Bergman Design House Transformed This 47 Metre Superyacht Into a Floating Homage to the Greek Islands

Axios spent over a decade as a striking presence on the water before Bergman Design House was ever invited aboard. Now, after a complete interior reimagining, the 47 metre superyacht built by Admiral, the flagship yard of The Italian Sea Group, carries something closer to the hush of a Cycladic hillside at golden hour than the polish typically associated with life at sea.

Axios first entered the water in 2014, her exterior lines drawn by the celebrated Italian yacht designer Luca Dini in collaboration with Admiral Centro Stile. That hull, all confident proportion and quiet authority, remains. What has changed is everything the eye settles on once a guest steps aboard. Bergman Design House was appointed to rework the vessel’s interior architecture from the circulation paths to the smallest bespoke detail, and the studio approached the commission less like a yacht refit and more like the design of a private residence that happened to float.

The name itself carries weight. Axios is Greek for the blessed one, and the studio built its entire narrative around that idea, drawing on the crisp geometry of Cycladic architecture, the warmth of late afternoon light on limewashed stone, and the tactile roughness of sun bleached textiles found across the islands. Rather than translate those references literally, the designers let them settle into the background, informing proportion and material choice until the interiors felt inevitable rather than themed.

Materiality carries much of that intention. Ethereal linens drape rather than hang. Woven finishes bring warmth against brushed metal surfaces that catch light softly instead of glinting. Sculptural fixtures act almost like jewelry within the rooms, deliberate and few rather than abundant. Every textile, every artwork, every finish was sourced and styled in house, which is part of why the yacht reads as a single, unbroken thought rather than a collection of well appointed rooms.

Space itself became a material to sculpt. Bergman Design House paid particular attention to how a person moves through Axios, adjusting proportion, sightlines, and the play of natural light so that the vessel’s already generous volume feels even more expansive. Walls seem to dissolve where they can, corridors open unexpectedly onto sea views, and the boundary between indoors and out grows deliberately soft.

The numbers behind that experience are considerable. Axios measures 47 metres overall with an 8.9 metre beam and a gross tonnage of 499, placing her among the top thirty percent of superyachts worldwide by length. Twelve guests can be accommodated across five staterooms, each conceived as its own quiet retreat rather than a variation on a single template, layered with soft textures and the kind of restrained detailing more often associated with fine residential design than with life at sea. Below the surface, the engineering is equally serious: a steel hull, an aluminium superstructure, and teak decking carry her at a comfortable 15 knots, with enough range, some 6,000 nautical miles, to cross an ocean without pause.

Today Axios sails under the Malta flag and sits at anchor in Greek waters, which feels less like coincidence and more like the story closing its own loop. The yacht that drew its identity from the Aegean now floats within it, hull reflecting the same white and gold that shaped every decision inside.
