Half a hectare of vineyard rolls right up to the door of La Bastide des Vignes, the Saint Tropez villa Stéphanie Coutas has turned from a tired farmhouse into a sunlit retreat for a Parisian family. Cypress trees line the entrance path, setting a calm rhythm long before guests reach the terracotta roofline, where a solid travertine bench by Piazza Navona offers the first place to sit and take it all in.

Inside, the architect and decorator built the 650 square metre home around light and openness. The living room stretches toward the pool and pine trees, anchored by two Kate sofas from her own Galerie Stéphanie Coutas and a walnut Teckell football table tucked to one side, proof that comfort and playfulness share the same room happily. A square Bukhara footstool in Loro Piana fabric sits low near the fireplace, beneath a 1966 painting by Aline Gagnaire titled Trois Frères.

The staircase carries the same attention. Linen and towelling lampshades, embroidered by Coutas herself, hang from rope cables beside a steel sculpture by Philippe Hiquily. Every material choice speaks to Provence without repeating its clichés.

Bathrooms throughout wear brushed travertine like a second skin. Devon and Devon tubs pair with antique bronze Gessi fittings, while a walnut mirror by Porada rests against straw wallpaper. In one, a red stool made by Coutas and upholstered in Loro Piana anchors the marble washstand.

The bedrooms shift tone gently. One is dressed in beige, straw and pale blue, its headboard, bedside tables and Hommage à Cocteau cushions all designed by Coutas, its lamps built by Van If. Another opens onto the garden through tall windows, its yellow ARTE wallpaper matched by a bespoke headboard and a Giobagnara bench with a plaited seat, an Édition 1.6.9 rug underfoot.

Outside, the vineyard sets the pace of the seasons. A Sierra day bed and Eliott armchairs, both from her Sun Experience collection, sit under a wooden canopy beside an Unopiù parasol, while a Serax vase and a Mondala stone candle complete a table laid for long lunches.

Even the gym and cinema follow the same logic. Elitis wallpaper and Waterrower Nohrd equipment furnish one, Kembara carpet and Victor Vasarely paintings the other. Nothing here feels imposed. Every room grew from the land it sits on, and from a designer who treats a farmhouse the way she treats a client, with patience and an eye for what already belongs.
