This autumn brings one of the fullest design and art calendars in years — a run of openings stretching from Paris and London through Istanbul, Riyadh, Amman, Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Cairo, from early September to the end of November. Read together, they trace a season increasingly defined by exchange: Europe’s established design weeks and fairs bookending a fast-maturing Gulf and Levant calendar, a historic gallery marking a quarter-century, and a biennial finally opening after postponement. Here’s what’s worth planning around, in order of opening.
Maison&Objet, Paris
10–14 September 2026 · Paris Nord Villepinte
Europe’s design season opens here. As the trade fair that sets the tone for a year of interiors and lifestyle design, Maison&Objet brings new maisons d’édition, guest-of-honour presentations and the trend calls the rest of the industry will spend the season reacting to.
London Design Festival
12–20 September 2026 · Citywide, London
A design festival in the fullest sense: a week of installations, talks and exhibitions spread across the city’s design districts, from the V&A to Shoreditch, rather than a single fair floor. A useful counterpoint to Maison&Objet’s trade-fair scale, and where London’s design scene shows its more experimental side.
Downtown Design Riyadh
15–18 September 2026 · JAX District, Riyadh
The Middle East’s leading design fair returns to Riyadh’s JAX District, the creative quarter built around the UNESCO-listed site of Al Turaif. Expect an expanded showcase of regional and international galleries and studios as Saudi Arabia’s design ecosystem continues to scale up — a useful early-season barometer for where Gulf collecting is heading.
Galerist, Istanbul — Labour of Love
16 September – 7 November 2026 · Passage Petits-Champs, Pera
Twenty-five years after opening, Istanbul’s Galerist marks its anniversary with an exhibition bringing together more than fifty artists who have shaped its programme — among them Nil Yalter, Hussein Chalayan, Thomas Ruff, Michael Craig-Martin, Erwin Wurm and Julian Opie. Built around the idea of self-portraiture, the show unfolds across painting, textiles, video and installation inside the gallery’s home since 2011, a nineteenth-century landmark in the historic Pera district — and doubles as a reminder of Istanbul’s enduring pull as a meeting point between Turkey’s art scene and the wider international one.
Amman Design Week
2–17 October 2026 · Amman
Now in its fourth edition, Amman Design Week returns under the theme “Accumulations.” It’s one of the longer-running design weeks in the region — sixteen days rather than a long weekend — and a clear marker of how far Jordan’s design scene has developed since the event first launched in 2016.
Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai — Artists’ Rooms

A quieter counterpoint to Dubai’s fair-week noise: new solo presentations from Lulua Alyahya, Shezad Dawood and Walid Siti open at Jameel Arts Centre weeks ahead of Dubai Design Week, giving the city’s own artist-led programming room to breathe before November’s crowds arrive.
Cézanne and Us, Paris
23 September 2026 – 17 January 2027 · Grand Palais · Exhibition
The Grand Palais, back in full swing after its renovation, pairs Cézanne’s work with the generations of artists he shaped — a marquee autumn exhibition and a reminder that Paris’s museum season is every bit as newsworthy as its design calendar. It opens the same week as Design Miami.Paris arrives across town.

Curated by Edward Enninful, this survey of British art, fashion and photography in the 1990s is the season’s clearest fashion-and-culture crossover — and lands in London right between the London Design Festival and PAD, giving the city a genuine third reason to visit this autumn.

14–19 October 2026 · Berkeley Square
PAD’s tented pavilion returns to Mayfair a month after London Design Festival closes, for its twentieth-century and contemporary mix of design, jewellery and art — a more collector-focused, market-driven read on London design than the festival’s citywide sprawl.
Design Miami.Paris
20–25 October 2026 · Hôtel de Maisons, Paris
Running alongside Art Basel Paris, Design Miami’s Paris edition is the more collectible-design-driven of the city’s two autumn moments — closer in spirit to PAD or NOMAD than to Maison&Objet’s trade-floor scale, and a reliable pulse-check on where serious design collecting is heading.
Dubai Design Week / Downtown Design
4–8 November 2026 · Dubai Design District (d3)
The Gulf’s longest-running design week returns with Downtown Design as its commercial anchor, alongside installations, talks and the wider Abwab and Global Grad Show programming across d3. Still the most reliable single stop for tracking the region’s design output at scale.
Design Doha Biennial
Opens 5–7 November 2026, on view through 31 January 2027 · M7 and venues across Doha
Postponed from its original spring date, Qatar’s design biennial finally opens this November as the centrepiece of Qatar Museums’ expansive fall season — which also includes a Giuseppe Penone retrospective at the National Museum of Qatar and an Erdem fashion exhibition at M7. Together they make Doha one of the most concentrated cultural stops of the season, with more than fifteen exhibitions running through the autumn.
Art Here 2026: Confluences, Louvre Abu Dhabi
11 November 2026 – 28 February 2027 · Louvre Abu Dhabi · Exhibition
Louvre Abu Dhabi’s annual commission Art Here and the Richard Mille Art Prize returns with “Confluences,” spotlighting artists from the GCC and India — opening exactly the week before NOMAD, and giving Abu Dhabi its own real exhibition to sit alongside the fair.
NOMAD Abu Dhabi
18–22 November 2026 · Terminal 1, Old Abu Dhabi Airport
One of the more atmospheric additions to the calendar: the collectible-design nomad fair takes over the disused Terminal 1 of Abu Dhabi’s old airport, positioning itself less as a trade fair than a curated cultural moment aimed at long-term engagement with Gulf collectors.
Cairo Design Week
19–28 November 2026 · Zamalek, Downtown Cairo & Heliopolis
Now in its fourth edition, Cairo Design Week closes out the season with its biggest programme yet, spreading across three districts of the city and promising expanded international participation. It’s the season’s clearest signal that the region’s design conversation extends well beyond the Gulf.
Taken together, these eleven stops sketch a season that runs from early September to the end of November without a real pause, plan travel accordingly.
