In Dubai’s landscape of constant reinvention, renovation is often equated with radical transformation. Walls disappear, layouts are rewritten, and interiors are rebuilt in pursuit of something entirely new. Villa Alma follows a different logic. Here, refinement replaced reinvention.

Located in the Parkways community of Dubai Hills, the 500 square metre residence had already undergone a renovation when its owner, a creative mother of two, realised that something essential was missing. The architecture was generous, the entrance impressive, yet the house lacked the warmth and personality that make a space feel truly lived in.

For Leali Ezzat, founder of the Dubai based studio ELE Interior, the solution was not demolition but precision. “We don’t believe in erasing a home in order to resolve issues,” she explains. “Our role was to bring warmth, personality, and that sense of ‘this is truly mine’ to a space that felt too much like a showroom.”

The double height entrance provided the first opportunity for this quiet transformation. Rather than replacing the existing staircase, the studio refined it through bespoke steps, glass balustrades and delicate metal detailing. Marble surfaces by Grani Marmo Classico introduce texture and depth, establishing a material palette that unfolds throughout the house.
Even the five metre chandelier suspended above the entrance was reconsidered rather than removed. Through a trimless installation and a carefully reconfigured crystal arrangement, the piece gained a new clarity that amplifies the vertical drama of the space.

On the ground floor, interconnected living areas unfold in a sequence that balances openness with intimacy. Furniture by Minotti anchors the living room with a sense of timeless comfort, while bespoke rugs by Handscarpet soften the generous volumes with texture and warmth. A custom media unit integrates niches for art and objects alongside discreet storage, allowing personal narratives to emerge within the architecture.

Above the dining table, a sculptural chandelier by Lustre Lighting mirrors the fluid curves of the furniture below, replacing rigid geometry with a softer sense of movement.
Upstairs, the atmosphere shifts toward intimacy. The master bedroom becomes a calm retreat defined by flush doors, layered lighting and a restrained palette of neutral tones that quietly reflect the client’s personality.

“Luxury is not about excess,” Ezzat reflects. “It is about creating spaces where every element has a purpose and where design ultimately serves the life lived within it.”
At Villa Alma, the transformation lies in the details, in craftsmanship, in materials chosen for their longevity, and in a design philosophy that understands that sometimes the most powerful gesture is restraint.
