Few design elements transform a dining setting as immediately as flowers. They have the power to shift atmosphere, build rhythm, and bridge the senses — tying together everything from linens to candlelight. For Glamour Rose, the Dubai-based floral atelier known for its poetic compositions, arranging flowers for a table is not just about beauty, but balance. In this conversation, the brand’s founder shares her insights on creating florals that elevate the ritual of gathering around a table.

What’s the starting point when designing florals for a dining table — the colour palette, the flowers, or the mood?
“The true starting point is the mood that we want to create with our design, and once that is defined, everything else flows naturally. We then choose the colour palette that reflects the mood and finish with the flowers that express the chosen palette.”
How do you define the role of flowers within a well-styled tablescape?
“The way I see it, flowers aren’t just decoration — they tie the whole scene together by bringing life, scent, colour, and movement that transform the setting into an experience. Flowers also connect all other design elements; linens, tableware, candles, glassware, and even the food. They simply shape the flow of the table visually.”
What’s the key to balancing proportion and height so arrangements enhance, rather than overwhelm, the setting?
“The key is not to block sightlines or conversation. Test your arrangement from a seated position — the best height isn’t what looks perfect from above, but what feels harmonious at dining level. It’s all about balance between people, flowers, and space.”

How do you harmonise your florals with tableware, linens, and lighting?
“Harmony comes from a shared mood, balanced palette, and thoughtful play between colour, texture, and light. It’s really about creating cohesion through rhythm, tone, and sensory balance.”
What colour combinations feel timeless for a dining setting — and which ones feel fresh right now?
“White and neutral tones are truly timeless as they bring a sense of calm, balance, and effortless sophistication to any dining setting. These shades allow texture, candlelight, and florals to shine without overwhelming the space.
Right now, though, we’re seeing a shift toward richer, more expressive palettes like deep burgundy, plum, and other strong, vibrant hues. They add drama, warmth, and personality, creating dining tables that feel modern, confident, and full of character.”
When working with seasonal blooms, how do you adapt your style from one season to the next?
“It’s about letting each season’s character guide the design. Each season brings its own rhythm, mood, and colour story — from the light, playful tones of spring to the earthy richness of autumn. Your arrangements should echo those natural shifts in texture and tone.”

What are your go-to stems or textures for adding depth and movement to a composition?
“Depth and movement are what bring an arrangement to life. You can achieve this by combining structured, architectural elements with loose, flowing stems that add natural rhythm. This balance makes the arrangement feel dynamic, layered, and full of personality.”
How do you approach scent — ensuring the fragrance elevates without competing with the food?
“Scent adds a subtle but powerful dimension to a tablescape, enhancing the dining experience when used thoughtfully. The key is restraint — strong fragrances can quickly overpower the food and the atmosphere. Choosing mild blooms or aromatic foliage ensures the fragrance complements rather than competes.”
One practical tip for keeping arrangements fresh through a long evening or outdoor dinner?
“One easy but efficient way to keep arrangements looking their best is to prep flowers ahead of time with fresh, sharp cuts and plenty of water. For longer events or outdoor dinners, store them in a cool spot until just before guests arrive. Selecting blooms that suit the season and setting also helps ensure they stay vibrant and resilient throughout the event.”
And finally — your golden rule for flowers that add a touch of effortless elegance.
“Flowers should reflect the tone of the event and the personality of the host. Thoughtful design, in harmony with the setting and occasion, creates a sense of balance and sophistication. Ultimately, the flowers should feel intentional yet naturally beautiful, elevating the entire experience.”
