In the heart of Beirut, Jeffrey Meawad’s design philosophy shapes spaces that go beyond aesthetics, creating environments that reflect personal identity while serving as functional, inviting homes. The Yarze Apartment is a prime example, where bold materials, innovative layouts, and custom details come together to define a space that is both comfortable and ideal for entertaining.

Jeffrey Meawad’s design for the Yarze Apartment reflects a philosophy rooted in identity, where every detail is crafted with a deep understanding of space, materiality, and human connection. This project exemplifies his approach of balancing bold design elements with the need for comfort and functionality. “I approach every project with a sharp focus on identity, using bold materials to make a statement while keeping the space effortlessly comfortable for everyday living,” he explains.

“In the Yarze Apartment, it was all about balance: chevron flooring to add warmth, a floating fireplace for a sculptural edge, and a custom bookshelf wall showcasing curated collectibles that speak to the homeowners’ personalities. The result was a space that feels distinctly theirs.”
The apartment’s design is structured around a few key principles: openness, flow, and an emphasis on material choices that evoke a sense of refinement. The reception area, featuring the striking Ice Connect marble, becomes the focal point of the space. “The Ice Connect marble sets the tone for the design, forming the foundation for the reception area’s central bar, where guests naturally come together,” Meawad says. “It all started with a preference for this striking material, and from there, the entire palette took shape.” This marble, with its deep green veins, serves as the foundation from which all the design decisions flow—guiding the palette and the spatial layout.
In designing spaces for social interaction, Meawad considers the emotional and practical needs of the people who live in them. “I’m drawn to open layouts for the way they amplify spatial fluidity and create a natural flow,” Meawad says. In this apartment, the design orbits around a bold bookshelf wall, a sleek bar at its center, and a back-to-back sofa that links seating zones effortlessly. These pieces create intimate spaces for conversation while ensuring there is ample room for movement and connection. “Every project begins with a curated color palette that sets the tone and vision for the entire space,” Meawad says. In the Yarze Apartment, green is a dominant theme, chosen for its grounding, tranquil quality.

The deep green veins in the Ice Connect marble inspired the rest of the palette, appearing throughout the apartment—from the velvet Cameleonda sofa to the guest bathroom. This repetition of green ties the various spaces together, creating continuity and a strong visual identity. “The bold green veins of Ice Connect marble became the driving force, shaping everything from key furniture pieces to finishing details.”

Another key feature of the Yarze Apartment is its integration between indoor and outdoor spaces. Meawad has long been a proponent of breaking down barriers between interior environments and the natural world. “Blurring the lines between indoors and out is always a priority,” he explains. “Here, the terrace feels like a natural extension of the living space, with green tones in the flooring that echo the indoor palette and a chevron pattern tying it all together.” The terrace, with its panoramic views, extends the apartment’s aesthetic and atmosphere, inviting the outdoors in.

The pool, crafted from green marble, mirrors the material used in the upper-floor bathrooms, reinforcing the apartment’s visual cohesion. “The materials chosen for the terrace were an extension of those used indoors, ensuring the connection between the spaces felt natural,” Meawad notes. This integrated design approach ensures that the boundary between inside and outside is porous, making the entire living experience feel unified and expansive.

Meawad’s commitment to craftsmanship is evident in every element of the apartment, from the custom furniture to the tailored finishes. “I’m hands-on with every detail,” he says. “Over the years, I’ve built strong relationships with trusted artisans who understand my vision. This collaborative process not only ensures exceptional craftsmanship but also fosters innovation in each project.“ Each bespoke piece reflects Meawad’s deep involvement in the process and his dedication to making every detail just right.

With his recent foray into collectible design, Meawad is expanding his creative horizons. His Solis bar cabinet, which debuted at We Design Beirut, has garnered widespread acclaim. “The response was beyond anything I expected,” he reflects. “It was incredibly rewarding, fueling my passion for creating unique statement pieces.” This success has opened new avenues for Meawad, inspiring him to create more collectible designs that push the boundaries of his craft.
Meawad’s ability to merge modern design sensibilities with a respect for traditional craftsmanship makes him a standout figure in the world of architecture and design. The Yarze Apartment serves as a perfect example of his vision—where identity, functionality, and aesthetic harmony coexist in a home that feels both deeply personal and universally inviting.
