After a long, harsh summer in Dubai, outdoor season is finally back — and with it comes the chance to breathe new life into our gardens, terraces, and balconies. “Summer inevitably takes its toll,” says Angela Moreno Falcon, co-founder of EasyGarden. “The priority now is to recover: nurture stressed plants, revive the soil with fresh compost, trim back, and check your irrigation system as the weather cools.”

The UAE’s climate demands resilience, but that doesn’t mean compromising on beauty. Angela swears by hardy species — palms, agaves, cacti, olive trees — alongside drought-tolerant natives that bring both structure and color. “Coming from Spain, I’m drawn to Mediterranean tones,” she explains, “but there’s also a wonderful palette of local bushes and grasses that create a natural prairie feel.”

Even the smallest balcony can become a lush retreat. Her advice? Play with vertical space, layer pots in clusters, and use mirrors or color to open up a courtyard. “Don’t forget that indoor plants can totally transform your home too,” she adds.

Designing outdoors, Angela suggests, is as much about lifestyle as greenery. She imagines gardens as “a series of rooms — some for entertaining, others for quiet moments.” Lighting, she insists, is key: “It creates atmosphere and lets you enjoy the winter nights al fresco.”
Behind EasyGarden is a family story. “We couldn’t find the right team to care for our own garden, so we built one ourselves,” says Angela. Today, their company — their “third baby” — is all about approachable expertise and respect for the gardeners who make outdoor spaces flourish.

This season, she’s inspired by natural textures, Mediterranean layers, and the simple rituals of outdoor living. “A morning coffee among the plants or an evening by the firepit — that’s when the garden truly comes alive.”
